A bridge is a replacement for a missing tooth which is held in place by crowns on the adjacent teeth. You may require a dental bridge if you are missing one or more teeth.

It is a frequently used restorative treatment which is long lasting and durable. They are created to look and feel as natural as possible so they blend in with the rest of your teeth.

Bridges can:

  • Allow you to eat and function normally
  • Help rejuvenate your smile
  • Prevent your natural teeth from moving out of place and
  • Could also reduce the potential of jaw joint problems occurring

Here’s how it works:

  • If you require a bridge, your natural teeth will be prepared for treatment. They may require considerable preparation in order to hold the crowns.
  • An impression is then taken and sent to the dental laboratory.
  • The lab will then make the bridge, with the gap being filled by a false tooth, specifically for you and colour matched to your natural teeth.
  • The final bridge is then sent back to the practice and fitted into your mouth. The type of bridge and material used to make it is dependent on where in the mouth you have lost a tooth and we will discuss what the best option is for you.
